01 Origin

How a tour actually falls apart.

Anyone who works with artists and DJs on tour knows how quickly it stops being clear. Contracts arrive by email, the rider is a PDF, the crew information sits in a WhatsApp group, the travel plan is a spreadsheet — and the decisions that matter are somewhere across ten different chats.

On top of that came the advancing: the same round of coordination with promoters and venues before every single date. The same questions, the same answers, from scratch every time.

None of that is stupid, and it holds up for a long while. It breaks on the day three people ask the same question and one of them gets an out-of-date answer — and at 18:00 on the show day somebody notices that nobody booked the shuttle.

So that is where we started. Everything that happens around a show, in one place. Not because it looks tidier, but so that nobody has to guess where the current answer is.

02 Crew

Four people, four sides of the same show.

Nobody here arrived at touring through software. Two of us play the shows, one advances them, one writes the code — which is the whole reason the product looks like this and not like a project board.

Berkant does artist management at World Club Dome and runs his own event company in Bochum, 99atmos, alongside beat and butter. Here he has sales and marketing, which is the same job with the sides swapped — he spent years being the person a promoter had to talk round. He is also the reason the advancing sheet asks what it asks: every field on it exists because he has had to ask for it by mail, on a Tuesday, for the fortieth time, and because at least once the answer came back for the wrong date.

Kevin Meyer

Kevin plays the shows. As KEEV he produces and DJs — 3AM, Alien, the KEEV & Friends mashup packs — so he sees a date from the stage side: what an artist actually needs on the day, and what nobody should be putting in front of them. He also has finance and administration here, which makes him both the person the paperwork is for and the person it lands on. Most of what a role is allowed to see got decided by him saying he would rather not have to look at it.

Lukas Kreuzer

Lukas writes it. He came out of 42 Heilbronn — a school with no lectures and no teachers, where you learn by shipping and by reading other people's code — and then led development at the Ferdinand-Steinbeis-Institut in Heilbronn, the Steinbeis Foundation's research institute for digitalisation, on projects that ran with municipal utilities rather than in a demo environment. He now runs KreuzerTec Services UG (haftungsbeschränkt), the company that operates the platform: backend, frontend, the servers in Germany and the invoice at the end of the month are the same desk.

Fabio draws it. The wordmark, the type, the colour, the way a show day is laid out on a screen — all of it is his. He is FABLO — he produces and DJs out of Stuttgart, and he has played the World Club Dome that Berkant works behind. Which is why the interface does not look like enterprise software. It was drawn by someone who has had to find his own set time on a phone, in the dark, ten minutes before he goes on.

03 Why

Why not just use an existing tool?

There is plenty of good project and event software, and some of it covers parts of this. What we wanted was the parts nobody accounts for.

    Because the vocabulary is missing

    No general tool knows a rooming list, a technical rider, a travel party or a load-in. You can force all of it into generic fields — and then everyone types it differently and nobody finds it again.

    Because roles are decoration elsewhere

    A date has a tour manager, a sound engineer, a driver, a promoter. In most tools they are all "members". Here the role is what you invite by, sort by and mention by.

    Because the promoter is not a user

    The most important contribution to a show often comes from someone who will never create an account. Almost every tool answers that with "then invite them". We answer it with a link that shows exactly one show.

    Because forty dates are not one project

    A tour is not one large undertaking. It is forty small ones that are nearly identical. Whatever costs a click once costs an evening across a tour, which is why there are presets, templates and switchable sections instead of an empty board.

08 Questions

About us, specifically.

The company questions, answered in the same place as the product ones.

KreuzerTec Services UG (haftungsbeschränkt), seated in Stuttgart and run by Lukas Kreuzer. That is the company you contract with, the service provider in the legal notice and the controller under data protection law. It is an operating subsidiary of KreuzerTec Holding UG (haftungsbeschränkt).

A plan, and we would rather name it as one. Buddy Suite UG is in preparation — intended to hold the product suite once it exists. Until then it operates nothing, signs nothing and processes nothing; KreuzerTec Services UG (haftungsbeschränkt) does all three.

KreuzerTec Services UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is the controller. The servers are in Germany, at Hetzner, and identity, database, files and virus scanning all run on our own infrastructure. The only third party in the regular flow is Stripe, for payments.

Small, and named — the three founders and Fabio Pepe, who designs the brand and the interfaces, are all on this page with a face next to the name. Beyond those four it is a handful of people. That is why whoever answers your email can actually change the product — and why we would rather write "planned" than let you assume something is nearly finished.

On the current product, calendar sync, a public API and Slack or Teams notifications are the most-asked-for things that are not built. What gets built first is decided by what people tell us would decide it for them. Further products on the same foundation are planned; none is far enough along to put a name on it here.
